The Greatest Show Never Played

Ugh… Sorry Raleigh, you can paint a pretty picture, but you can’t predict the weather. We were all set to throw down an outdoor show during the Hopscotch festival in Raleigh playing right before the Roots. But, it poured for over two hours and we simply didn’t play. We had even hired local dancers that were going to recreate this whole routine down to a “T”.

But instead we all hung out in the lobby of the Marriott. Put back a few cocktails. Mingled with the debutantes having a ball of some sorts. At one point our drummer Ben went back to the stage to get some of his stuff, but it was covered in two inches of water and there were electrical leads all over the place. So he asked the monitor man if it was safe to go out there. He said, “Well, let me put it to you this way. I did a gig a couple weeks ago where it rained and I got shocked two times. It wasn’t so bad.”

At least the ribs were good, and we got a great view of the city on the way back home.
